About Professor Tiberio Caetano
Tiberio studied Electrical Engineering with research in Physics during undergraduate school (1992-1997). Following his studies he worked as an Electronics Engineer for a Nuclear Medicine company (1997-2000). He returned to academia in 2000 to pursue a Master's degree in Computer Science, and transferred into the PhD program in 2001. After completing his PhD Tiberio spent 5 months as a postdoctoral researcher at the Alberta Ingenuity Centre for Machine Learning (AICML), and subsequently almost 10 years as a researcher at NICTA (now incorporated by CSIRO as Data61). During this period he also held adjunct academic positions at the ANU (and at UNSW for a shorter period). In September 2014, the startup he co-founded at NICTA, Ambiata, spun out. Currently Tiberio is employed as Ambiata's Chief Scientist and also hold a Professorial appointment at the University of Sydney.
