About Prof Anthony Maeder

Professor Anthony Maeder joined Flinders University in April 2016 as Chair in Digital Health Systems and co-Director of the Flinders Digital Health Research Centre, a joint initiative between the Faculty of Science & Engineering and Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

Prior to this, he was Professor in Health Informatics at Western Sydney University, where he founded the Telehealth Research and Innovation Laboratory (THRIL) in 2010.

He was previously Research Director of the CSIRO Australian eHealth Research Centre in Brisbane, from 2004 to 2008.

He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society.

Professor Maeder was President of the Australasian Telehealth Society in the period 2010-2012, and joined the Governing Board of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth in 2013.

In 2015 he was appointed as the Fulbright Distinguished Professor in Life Sciences and Agriculture at Kansas State University, and he holds honorary visiting professorial appointments at Rhodes University and University of KwaZulu-Natal.
