About Michelle McGuirk

Michelle McGuirk is the Clinical Manager for TeleHealth NT and works from the hospital in Alice Springs, Central Australia. A qualified Registered Nurse, Michelle has a Master’s in Public Health and Health Service Management, a Certified Health Informatician Australasia, and is an executive member of the Australasian Telehealth Society. With 18 years’ experience in health delivery in remote Central Australia; the last 5 years have been dedicated to establishing telehealth services for all Territorians. Michelle’s focus has been integrating telehealth into mainstream practice which underlies the success of the services to date.

On numerous occasions Michelle has presented to a wide cross section of the community on the benefits of eHealth telehealth services. Having first-hand knowledge of how remote populations and services experience numerous logistical disadvantages, many of which can be improved by investing in technology and infrastructure as a commodity. Michelle strongly believes that further enhancement of digital health strategies is essential for the health industry in Australia and is an advocate for broadband for the bush initiatives. Michelle is passionate about the opportunities available in improving communication within the health sector. Having a prepared and agile workforce will help with the development of integrated digital health models of care in the remote areas.
