About Dr William Raffe

Dr. William Raffe is a Senior Lecturer within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he administers the Bachelor of Science in Games Development degree and is Co-director of the UTS Games Studio. William’s teaching philosophy is centred on interactive lecturers that encourage class-wide debate and collaborative problem solving. His research expertise lies within machine learning and computational intelligence, with a focus on their application to mining player data for games industry insight, improving player experiences, and creating novel content authoring tools for game developers.

William also initiated and worked as the primary Research Fellow on a three-year Australian Research Counsel Linkage Project, co-funded by the Australian federal government and Village Roadshow Ltd. This project investigated the utilization of augmented and virtual reality to create novel entertainment experiences in non-traditional contexts.

William graduated with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from RMIT University and has over fifteen publications in highly ranked international venues.
