How AI will transform healthcare – Personalising lifestyle and wellbeing, diagnosis, treatment and payment for healthcare
Historically we have treated patients according to what works best on average. The emergence of genomics, however, has opened up the opportunity to tailor treatments specific to individuals – i.e. personalising care.
While the practical applications of genomics in personalised medicine have yet to be realised, there is enormous potential to use the health data genome, or “datanome” of individuals to make similar personalisation decisions in a way that is immediately realisable with existing historic data.
This has the potential to not only improve outcomes, but dramatically reduce the wasted spending on unsuitable interventions.
