Dr Nicholas Gruen discusses public sector Innovation
27 Oct 2009

Dr Nicholas Gruen
Chair of the Government 2.0 Taskforce
In the same week he addressed over 250 delegates at CeBIT Australia’s Gov 2.0 Conference, Chair of the Government 2.0 Taskforce, Dr. Nicholas Gruen, also discussed the importance of Public Sector Innovation in a video presented in London, UK.
Dr. Gruen examined the following ideas in the video available from the Government 2.0 Taskforce website:
- The opening up of Public Sector Innovation as an extension of the principles of competition policy
- The importance of serendipity and the according importance of licensing PSI in a way analogous to APIs for software
- A possible transition from PSI 1.0 in which governments supply data for further value adding towards a model in which the public provides more of that data
Dr Gruen discussed similar themes in presenting Inquiries 2.0 at the Gov 2.0 Conference last week. Watch a video of the presentation and download his slides from the Gov 2.0 website.
