CeBIT Australia 2009 is set to become the first Australian trade event to get the Green Tick of Green IT approval. Computers Off Australia and CeBIT Australia are proud to announce they have joined forces to create the first Australian trade event certified under the Computers Off Australia Power Management certification (The Green Tick). Computers Off Australia is at the forefront of the Green ICT movement within Australia and have developed the first Green IT labelling initiative globally that is designed to help business, government and individuals quickly and easily identify organisations that are doing their part to reduce their power consumption and in turn reducing their CO2 emissions. The policy developed by Computers Off Australia and CeBIT Australia will see all non-critical IT equipment shut down over night or when not in use over the 3 days of this exhibition. CeBIT Australia has set the benchmark for all exhibition in Australia to follow their lead being environmentally aware and considering our environment. The Managing Director of CeBIT Australia's organiser, Hannover Fairs Australia, Ms Jackie Taranto, said she was proud that the event could play such a role in spearheading the move towards in Australia and the wider region. "As the region's largest annual technology event, we believe we should set a clear example for responsible use of IT and power consumption with an eye to our environmental obligations," she said. "One of our key themes at CeBIT Australia 2009 is how Green IT practices can not only be a worthy social goal in itself, but can also improve business efficiencies and lower energy and running costs in their own right. "We are proud to put into practice what we so vigorously promote." The Computers Off Australia campaign and labelling initiative was officially launched in Australia last year. |
