Mal Thatcher

Executive Director, Chief Information Officer, Information & Infrastructure, Mater Health Services

Mal Thatcher joined Mater Health Services (MHS) as their Chief Information Officer in 2004, with executive portfolio responsibility for the management and stewardship of the Mater’s information assets. With over 7,000 staff, MHS operates 7 hospitals delivering over 500,000 occasions of services each year.

Mal holds an honours degree in computer science from The University of Queensland, and a Master’s Degree in computer science from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Mal is currently undertaking a PhD in IT governance and in 2010 completed a Certificate Program in Leadership Strategies for IT in Healthcare from Harvard University. Mal is also currently an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Science and Technology at QUT.
