Panasonic Toughbooks Withstand Harshest Treatment

Panasonic Toughbooks are well known for allowing you to productively complete business tasks anywhere, anytime, while being confident that your laptop is designed to withstand the toughest treatment.

They are available in 3 varieties: Business Rugged, Fully Rugged and Medical Rugged. The level of ruggedness is demonstrated by this video of a factory standard specification Toughbook 19 model being dragged behind a snowmobile through rough terrain. At the end of the test it functioned fine.

The latest models are the Toughbook CF-H1 Mark2 which is designed for the healthcare industry and Toughbook CF-U1 Mark 2 for mobile field workers.

The Toughbook CF-H1 Mk2 is specifically designed for medical use, featuring a fanless design, a smooth surface, sealed buttons, a gapless LCD and no exposed ports for easy and safe sanitisation. In addition, a Panasonic-designed software utility can be programmed to remind users to wipe the unit down at certain intervals. The device automatically tracks this for the medical facility’s permanent records.

Tested to military standards (MIL-STD810G), the unit is capable of withstanding a drop of 1.8 metres while operational. Its design makes it resistant to other adverse conditions such as vibration, humidity, altitude, temperature extremes and thermal shock. It is IP65 compliant for water, rain and dust-resistance and can be sprayed and wiped repeatedly with disinfectant without affecting its operation.

As a mobile tool, the CF-H1 Mk2 is designed to be carried, so portability and ergonomic-usability is paramount. The CF-H1 Mk2 is compact and lightweight (weighing 1.5 kilograms), produces low heat during operation and features a specially-designed integrated hand strap for improved comfort while on the move. In addition, the CF-H1 Mk2 has an integrated easel footing so it can sit upright on a trolley, bedside table or desk.

The Toughbook CF-U1 Mark 2 is Panasonic’s lightest and smallest rugged handheld computer designed to meet the demands of Australian mobile field workers who require lightweight mobility without sacrificing comprehensive functionality.

Weighing just over 1kg, the 3G WWAN-ready Toughbook CF-U1 Mk2 is ideal for use in harsh conditions, confined spaces or when ultra-portability is critical. The CF-U1 Mk2 is Mil-STD-810G and IP65 rated and built for the most challenging conditions, featuring a 5.6-inch ultra-bright, transflective and sunlight readable touchscreen for easy viewing outdoors.

Fully sealed in a Magnesium Alloy chassis, the unit provides a lightweight solution that is still extremely rugged, withstanding drops of up to 1.8 metres and is rain, spill and dust resistant. It is ideal for a range of diverse industries where workers require lightweight mobility, such as surveyors, technicians or engineers.
