NSW Department of Trade & Investment Supporting Startups

The NSW Government is supporting a bright future for ICT in our State and is a proud supporter of CeBIT Australia. NSW Trade & Investment will showcase 16 of NSW’s best emerging technology companies and their cutting-edge products at the show, including seven projects supported by its Collaborative Solutions program.

CeBIT Australia, the Asia Pacific’s largest ICT industry exhibition and conference held at Darling Harbour from 22-24 May, will showcase NSW as an international technology business and investment location.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner told us that:

“CeBIT will be a chance to showcase our best innovative technology SMEs and their solutions to an international audience, helping spark global business collaborations and opportunities,”.

“Today companies are relying heavily on technology to optimise business processes, enhance customer support, streamline supply chain management and drive innovation, setting the scene for a vibrant CeBIT Australia 2012″.

“Technology entrepreneurs are drivers of economic and social progress, and rapidly growing entrepreneurial enterprises, including tech startups, can be important sources of innovation, employment and productivity growth”.

Tapit is one of the companies which was greatly assisted by NSW Government support through the Collaborative Solutions program and will be exhibiting at CeBIT as part of the NSW Department of Trade & Investment showcase.

Jamie Conyngham, CEO of Tapit told us that:

“Following the Collaborative Solutions Mobile Concierge grant, we created the core Tapit ICT system which is being used across many sectors now as well as the qualifying Retail and Tourism sectors”.

“More importantly as a by product of the grant process, a symbiotic relationship was created where the NSW government helps to create jobs and foster innovation and Tapit connects with various government bodies and participates in a number of Trade & Investment initiatives”.

“An important consequence of the process was the fact that Tapit became international, completing it’s first deal in Singapore with the largest outdoor player Clear Channel. This deal happened because one of Tapit’s project partners was Nokia who subsequently invited Tapit to Communicasia Singapore where we met Clear Channel.”
